The Rorschach test also known as the Rorschach inkblot test or simply the Inkblot test, is a psychological test in which subjects’ perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analyzed using psychological interpretation, complex scientifically derived algorithms, or both. Some psychologists use this test to examine a person’s personality characteristics and emotional functioning. It has been employed to detect an underlying thought disorder, especially in cases where patients are reluctant to describe their thinking processes openly.

This test is based on TAT developed by Murray, and the pictures here have been redesigned to suit Indian culture.

This Projective psychological test adherents assert that it taps a subject’s unconscious state to reveal repressed aspects of personality, motives and needs for achievement, power and intimacy, and problem-solving abilities. The TAT is popularly known as the picture interpretation technique because it uses a standard series of provocative yet ambiguous pictures about which the subject is asked to tell a story. The subject is asked to tell as dramatic a story as they can for each picture presented. The age limit is for adolescents and adult populations.
