Finger Tapping Test is a mechanical device to measure the motor function of the subject using the finger by both preferred and non-preferred hand. A tapping key is provided to facilitate tapping and subject has to tap at a maximum speed (he can) in a given amount of time. The number of taps can be automatically recorded using a electronic/Electrical counter separately.
To achieve competence in activities requiring manual dexterity, speed of gross movements of hand and arm, and finger dexterity and coordination are necessary in varying degrees. Gross movements of hand and arm may be measured in terms of the speed with which the individual picks up and places cylindrical blocks in holes in a board. Finger dexterity and coordination, necessary in speed and accurate manipulation of objects may be tested by measuring the rate at which an individual is able to pick up, turn the block and replace in the holes in the board. M.R.M.T board consists of a wooden board with 58 symmetrical holes in a wooden tray. All the 58 holes are provided 58 symmetrically cylindrical wooden blocks painted red and blue on the opposite tops.
